Details

We are a women's only charity due to the sensitive nature and experiences of some of our patrons and so we will only accept applications from women.

Aspire offers all women a welcoming and safe space to learn, socialise and gain confidence.

We deliver courses, support and wellbeing services both online and from our women-only centre in Chester-le-Street.

Listeners and Befriender Volunteers deliver one-to-one confidential listening services and help tackle loneliness and isolation.

Our award-winning Aspire volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, ensuring that our services are peer-led and co-produced.  This means women’s needs and aspirations are truly reflected in the support and wellbeing services Aspire provides, as well as providing valuable involvement and development opportunities for women.

Skills needed

Aspire provides award-winning women’s services across the North East of England.

We give our trained support and wellbeing volunteers the title of ‘Supporting Sisters.’ Once women have completed the initial volunteer training, they have the opportunity to be part of a wide variety of support and wellbeing roles, as well as plenty of opportunities to further develop their support skills and specialise themselves in particular areas of interest.

We also encourage our volunteers to be part of focus groups for the shaping and evaluation of our support services, so we truly mean it when we say volunteers are at the heart of Aspire.

Aspire also have a free creche available for use whilst attending Aspire for services or to volunteer.
