The Felling Food Network is established within the Felling Community to provide a 3-day emergency food parcel distribution point for local people experiencing food poverty in Felling and surrounding areas.

There are currently two sessions from the Felling Food Network each month which include:

  • The 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Cadet Building, off Wellington Street, Felling, NE10 0BH from 10:00 am - 1:00pm
  • The 4th Wednesday of each month at the Cadet Building, off Wellington Street, Felling, NE10 0BH from 10:00am - 1:00pm

Members of the public are provided with an appointment time to attend the project to collect food parcel support.

The group also provide practical support around sign posting and information to lots of other sources of help.

This volunteer role is specifically around general assistance on the day to support members of the public. This will involve the volunteer being on site just before and slightly after the session is active.

The volunteers are required to help with the following type of tasks:

  • helping to arrange donations within the store at the project venue
  • helping to create parcels for members of the public
  • helping with packing and transferring items in the location
  • helping to assist members of the public or to signpost them to other members of services (information/training will be provided).
  • the need of the volunteers could change from session to session however, all of the tasks will be light touch informal tasks and volunteers will not be expected to delivery any professional advice or be responsible for any heavy-duty tasks within the project.

The volunteers can provide as much or as little support that they are able to.

Each volunteer will be allocated tasks by the project Founder/Chair at the start of each session.

Prior to each session there will be a brief welcome talk which will inform everyone of any relevant information that day and a quick brief evaluation following the session to update everyone on the events of the session.
