We provide care and support for more than 40,000 people living with a terminal illness and their families in the UK each year.

Our nurses work night and day, in people’s homes across the UK, providing hands-on care and vital emotional support. Our hospices offer specialist round-the-clock care. And we help people throughout their illness by giving practical information, support from trained volunteers and being there when someone wants to talk.

Marie Curie Nurses If ever faced with a terminal illness, most of us would choose to die peacefully, in our own homes, surrounded by the people that mean the most to us. Marie Curie Nurses make this possible. There are nearly 2,000 Marie Curie Nurses working across the UK, caring for people with a terminal illness in their own homes.

Last year, our nurses provided more than 1.3 million hours of nursing to 31,558 people, as well as supporting their families at an incredibly difficult time. Marie Curie Hospices Our nine hospices offer round-the-clock, expert care and support, in a friendly, welcoming environment, both for people staying in the hospices and those who come in for the day to use our services. Last year, our hospices helped 8,931 people – we’re the largest provider of hospice beds outside the NHS.

Our hospices are in Belfast, Bradford, Cardiff and the Vale, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hampstead, Liverpool, Newcastle and the West Midlands. Marie Curie Helper Our trained, dedicated Helper volunteers spend up to three hours a week visiting people with a terminal illness, offering companionship, emotional support and practical help with everyday tasks.

Helper volunteers are only available in some areas at the moment, but we’re expanding the service over the next few years so we can offer it across the UK.  Helper Service Volunteer - Marie Curie | OurGateshead

We campaign on behalf of people living with a terminal illness and their families, to make sure they can access the high quality care they need when they need it most. Research We’re a leader in research into better ways of caring for people with terminal illnesses. We incorporate what we learn into the care and support we provide, and share it with others so we can make care better for everyone.
