Role Purpose
To bring professional financial expertise and independent oversight to the Board, ensuring the CIC maintains strong financial governance, robust controls, compliance, and long-term sustainability.
This role will be instrumental in demonstrating credible financial management to funders and
supporting informed board decision-making.
Voices for Change Advocacy is a brand new business and only two months old - we help people undergoing, and survivors of domestic abuse and coercive control. We bring awareness to the public by education and campaigns. My advocacy is to help people who may have been wrongly diagnosed and labelled without considering coercive control as a contributing factor - we seek whether they received treatment for this or instead a label and medication. I am looking to expand this business further for growth and structure. We are seeking someone who can spare a few hours per month.
Key Responsibilities (not present but may be in the future)
• Provide strategic oversight of financial planning, including reviewing and advising on annual
budgets, management accounts, cashflow forecasts, and reserves policy.
• Ensure appropriate financial controls, policies, and procedures are in place, particularly for
grant income, restricted funds, and CIC-specific requirements (asset lock, community
interest test).
• Review statutory annual accounts and the annual CIC Report (CIC34); liaise with external
accountants or auditors as required.
• Advise the Board on financial risks, sustainability, viability of new initiatives, and overall
financial health.
• Support compliance with Companies House filings, CIC Regulator requirements, and
funder-specific financial reporting.
• Contribute financial insight and scrutiny to funding applications and organisational planning
from a governance perspective.
• Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and best-practice financial governance
across the organisation.

No experience is necessary however, a basic knowledge in finance is essential.
