Markets Volunteer - Gateshead West pre-loved Uniforms

Gateshead West Pre-loved uniforms are a not-for-profit scheme who are currently based in Ryton. The group collect and redistribute Pre-loved school uniform for the local area, all with a “pay what you can, if you can” price tag.

The group hold open markets at Ryton Scout Hub (opposite Ryton Rugby Club) on every second Saturday.  Set up time of the markets is from 9:00am on the morning of the Saturday until 1:00pm.

Market sessions are also available on the last Monday.  Monday sessions each month involve setting up from 5:00pm until around 8:00pm.

Volunteers can commit as much or as little time to each of the markets.

This unique volunteer role which is helping those who are vulnerable in the community while providing some beneficial experience includes the following tasks:
• Sorting through donated items including, trousers, skirts, jumpers, polo shirts, summer dresses as well as school shoes, trainers, coats and bags.
• Setting up the tables and items of clothing onto the tables into an accessible selection of uniform items for customers.
• Helping customers to find the items that they need
• Generally keeping the area tidy and organised
• Handling minimal amounts of cash as the markets are donations based. There is no set limit as to what items costs. It is a pay what you can payment process.
