Portraiture: Beyond a Likeness (7 week course)

Are you passionate about capturing the essence of a person through art? Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, our Portraiture Course: Beyond a Likeness is designed to guide you through the timeless craft of portrait drawing and painting. This course is taught by a professional portrait artist and will help you develop the skills required to create portrait drawings and paintings you can be proud of.

New learners will be guided through the portrait drawing process, using the 'Block in method' which helps capture a likeness of the subject using traditional methods. Those learners who wish to develop painting skills can go through the basic skills of portrait painting.

Returning learners will be choosing an artist from a presentation provided, or can choose an artist of their own, with a view to painting a master copy, using oil paints. They'll explore how their chosen artist uses the painting process in a specific way to build their portraits using the specific processes and techniques. You will learn the fundamentals of facial features and proportions, how to capture emotion, expression and personality while developing your skills - so enrol now and start your portraiture journey!
