Tech4Communities has launched in Gateshead with Connected Voice’s Gateshead Digital Inclusion Project and a network of local libraries and community organisations at its heart.

Sixteen drop-off points are now open for residents and small businesses to donate unused laptops, tablets, and phones.

Each one will be securely refurbished and placed directly into the hands of people who have been excluded from the digital world.

Access to a working device is no longer optional. It shapes whether young people can complete homework, whether families can find jobs, and whether residents can stay connected to vital services and to each other. Unused technology should not gather dust. In Gateshead, it is being put back into use - where it matters most.

This project is in partnership with the Digital Poverty Alliance. It draws on years of hands-on delivery experience, and is grounded in a model that combines national infrastructure with local coordination.

Donation requests for Gateshead residents will open as soon as collected devices are refurbished.
