WE PROVIDE FREE WORK BOOTs & PPE. MANUAL HANDLING AND HEALTH AND SAFETY TRAINING IS DELIVERED ON-SITE.

Here at Foundations, we collect furniture free of charge from local households in and around Tyne and Wear, and we bring it back to our charity shop in Gateshead for families and individuals that are struggling to afford items for their homes.

We are seeking volunteers that can help our friendly drivers to collect and deliver furniture and help in our showrooms and warehouses.

Activities include:-

  • Helping to load and unload the van
  • Moving furniture and household items to display areas
  • Assisting the van driver with collections and deliveries

Our premises are in the heart of the Teams residential area of Gateshead. There are good transport links from Gateshead Town Centre or if driving, there is free car parking on-site.

"Knowing you are helping others while gaining something yourself through volunteering makes you feel good. Foundations has a welcoming and warm environment that volunteers can settled in to straight away" (Foundations Volunteer)

Skills needed

Are you good at working as a team, and care about the community? If so, we'd love to hear from you. Lifting and moving furniture can be physically demanding, so a good level of strength and fitness is great, but not essential.

Benefits for the Volunteer

Volunteering at a community furniture charity offers several meaningful benefits, both personal and to the community:

Giving Back to the Community: By helping others access affordable furniture, you're directly supporting families and individuals who may not have the financial means to furnish their homes.

Building Connections: Volunteering allows you to meet people from different walks of life. You'll make connections with our team, and you'll feel welcome, and included from the start.

Learning New Skills: Whether it's DIY, helping on our van, or teamwork, volunteering can give you hands
