Fostering Event Volunteer - Gateshead Council

This is a general volunteer role specifically to help around promotional events to raise awareness of and provide further information around fostering within Gateshead. The volunteer role will be to assist with general tasks while attendance of the Council Service around Fostering is Officers is requested at local and regional events. 

This can be at specific events that are hosted around fostering, or events/sessions that are utilising the services offered by the fostering team. For example a community event at a local community centre, the fostering team may be invited to attend the event and to host a stall. The volunteer role will add value to the role being delivered by Gateshead Council Officers and volunteers will be supervised during the sessions

Volunteers will not be expected or required to deliver an employee type of role by providing relevant service information or offering advice or expertise during the event. 

The events will aim to promote information about Gateshead Council’s Fostering team and direct resident to any further information that they may benefit from. 

The events will be within a local health and well-being type of setting and will be within a remit of providing information amount Gateshead Council services. 

The volunteer role will likely involve the following type of tasks:

• Helping to set up the stall by laying out leaflets and information sheets
• Capturing and recording any additional requests for information and passing them over to the correct officers
• Signposting residents to particular pieces of information about relevant areas of fostering 
• Signposting residents to officers on site who are available for more information on the day of the event 

Volunteers will be contacted about events as they become available and involvement as volunteers offer to them for their involvement.

If volunteers are interested in helping out at set events they will be provided with:

• Joining instructions 
• A key contact
• Venue and location 
• And additional information. 

Volunteers are welcome to get as involved as they would like to me. Each individual volunteer will have their own needs and wants from delivering their volunteer role with their own differing levels of experience to be linked into. 

Volunteers can become involved in as many or as little events that best suits their individual circumstances.
