Welcome to the Rowlands Gill Volunteer Library. We are a popular library located in central Rowlands Gill run by friendly volunteers who are happy to help with your enquiries.

We provide many services to the local community including: A wide range of children's and adult's fiction and non-fiction books including large print and talking books. Library membership is free. Local history information. Downloadable ebooks and audiobooks. Free Wi-fi and PC's Printing, Photocopying and scanning facilities. Council information. Tea and coffee. A selection of local and national newspapers. Books for sale. Crafting swap shop. Food bank donation point. NHS hearing aid battery stockist. Battery recycling centre. Mobile phone and printer cartridge recycling centre.

We have a programme of regular activities and events for both children and adults. For further details please see the Activities page below. 

The library is run by volunteers in conjunction with Gateshead Council who continue to provide books and computers whilst he library volunteers run the service. We always welcome additional volunteers, for which full training and support is provided. For further information on volunteering opportunities please contact the library direct.

Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday 09.30 to 12.30 and Monday and Tuesday 14.00 to 16.00

ACCESSIBILITY: ​Access for wheelchair users, automatic doors, public parking spaces.

HOW TO FIND US: By Car: The library is situated on Norman Road, behind the A694. Look for the turning by the Cenotaph.  By bus: In addition to the Red Kite 45, 45E, 46 and 47 services, the followinf services all stop in Rowlands Gill: R3, R4, R5, R6, S854, S868, S875, 792, 827 and 933.
