Space available for groups! Perfect for meetings, activities, coffee mornings, study and more! The Shipley Art Gallery in Gateshead is a beautifully restored building with a fantastic range of art and design on show in friendly surroundings. 

The Workshop

The Shipley has a fully equipped workshop/learning room, which is available for daytime hire. This room is an ideal location for a variety of meetings, training sessions or practical group activities. Equipped with a sink and durable flooring, this is an ideal space for hands-on, creative activities. There are adjoining toilets, and tea and coffee facilities, making it easy to facilitate breaks for your group. The Workshop can be booked from 10am – 4pm Tuesday to Friday, and 10am – 5pm on Saturday. 

The Lounge

We offer a lovely room with wooden flooring and lots of natural light, with tables, chairs, sofas and floor cushions set up as you wish. The Lounge is suitable for meetings and art classes using dry materials.  The lounge is available from 10am – 4pm Tuesday to Friday, and 10am – 5pm on Saturday.

Pre-booking is essential for both The Workshop and The Lounge and subject to availability. Free, limited street parking is available outside the gallery. Several buses stop nearby on Durham Road, Prince Consort Road and Coatsworth Road. The gallery is approximately 15 minutes’ walk from Gateshead Interchange.
