Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a national charity and centre of excellence in training dogs to alert deaf people to important sounds and danger signals in the home, work place and public buildings.

We are urgently looking for dog lovers in the Gateshead area to look after and help train one of our gorgeous puppies!

Could you welcome a gorgeous hearing dog puppy into your home for 16 months? With the support of our Puppy Training Instructors you would socialise them and teach them new skills and obedience.

You will learn how to train your puppy at weekly puppy classes and you’ll receive visits to your home from your trainer on a regular basis. They’re also just on the end of the phone for any puppy-related questions or concerns you may have.

Our puppies must get used to a variety of everyday situations such as travelling on public transport, meeting other people and animals or settling in cafes. All of this prepares them for their later life as a working hearing dog.

This fun and sociable role is perfect for dog lovers who have a keen interest in training, and lots of spare time to give! Not only do you get to look after an adorable puppy and help it on its journey to becoming a life-changer, but you meet lots of like-minded people along the way.
