Whickham Hermitage Community Garden is an award-winning Victorian walled garden, providing an oasis in the heart of a bustling village. It's been lovingly restored and renewed by dedicated volunteers and experts. Enjoy a walk around this free-to-use Garden to appreciate the vast array of plants and visit the wildlife pond (the old mini boating lake). Take a break on the many seating areas along the paths, in the gazebo and the unusual igloo domes.
Garden sculptures have been created on-site by local artists; there's a children's playhouse and fairy village for little visitors to enjoy! Look out for exciting new projects in development - including a Sensory Garden! There's a great range of plants for sale (cash only). Wheelchair accessible paths, tearoom and toilet. Dog-friendly garden and a gazebo to shelter in when necessary.
The beautiful, modern Orangery is run by an independent team and offers very reasonably priced hot drinks, cake, sandwiches and more! They often arrange special activities for children so keep an eye out on their Facebook page.

Volunteers are always appreciated to help maintain the garden.
