Whickham Hermitage Community Garden is an award-winning Victorian walled garden, providing an oasis in the heart of a bustling village. It's been lovingly restored and renewed by dedicated volunteers and experts. Enjoy a walk around this free-to-use Garden to appreciate the vast array of plants and visit the wildlife pond (the old mini boating lake). See the beautiful Black East Indian ducks on the pond and the bantams and canaries will entertain you in their own special way! Sam, the rabbit, just looks on quietly! Garden sculptures have been created on-site by local artists; there's a children's playhouse and fairy village for little visitors to enjoy! Look out for exciting new projects in development - including a Sensory Garden! The beautiful, modern Orangery offers very reasonably priced hot drinks, sandwiches, cake and more! There's a great range of plants for sale. Wheelchair accessible paths, tearoom and toilet. Dog-friendly garden and a gazebo to shelter in when necessary. Look out for Special Events with extended opening hours - including visits by the Easter Bunny!
Volunteers are always appreciated to help maintain the garden.
