Availability Details

The project requires a 12 month commitment period as well as:
* One 30-minute debriefing call with a member of the Community Hub team after
each meeting, for at least the first 6 meetings.
* To be able to attend initial training.
* To be able to attend a minimum of 5 professional development training sessions per year (provided by TSA).

This volunteer role will involve the following:

•   To meet as a ‘trio’ (minimum of) twice per month for approximately 2 hours per session at locations determined by the group.
•   Help to model healthy community and relationships.
•   Attend mentor training provided by The Salvation Army Community Hub team. 
•   Help the client set and achieve goals over the period of a year. 
•   Provide practical support where appropriate (e.g. signposting). 
•   Provide a brief written record of each meeting to the LPC. 
•   Provide client/volunteer feedback.

 

Skills needed

• Interest in The Salvation Army’s modern slavery work and sympathy with the general aims and values of The Salvation Army.
• Sensitive interpersonal and social skills.
• Ability to keep confidences.
• Commitment to safeguarding and a willingness to raise concerns where necessary.
• Ability to build strong relationships with fellow mentor and client demonstrating a healthy relationship.
• Experience of supporting others navigating new situations and achieving new
goals.
• Access to car/public transport and flexibility around meeting places.
