As a NOVUM volunteer, you are the frontline face of the festival: you can enhance audiences’ experience through knowledge of the project and artworks and a personal approach.

You will be asked to assist the production team on the ground with a variety of tasks, for example:

  • Welcome and general audience guidance
  • Directing people, offering advice & information
  • Handing out flyers
  • Helping to manage queues
  • Sharing programme specific information with audiences
  • Supporting on the ground marketing activity
  • General artist or artwork installation assistance
  • Carrying tools or equipment to and from sites
  • On site production assistance/artist support
  • Feeding information back to Event Managers

Skills needed

No experience is required - we encourage applications from people from all walks of life that are seeking experience in the creative and arts sector. However, please note that volunteering roles require a dedication to teamwork, commitment to site safety and respect for adhering to site policy and procedure.

Before the festival starts, you will receive training around the festival programme, sites, health and safety and general conduct.

Benefits for the Volunteer

You’ll have the opportunity to see how a festival comes together alongside community groups, organisations and talented artists from around the world as well as getting hands-on experience. You’ll also get an opportunity to learn about the artworks and meet artists directly.
