
Gateshead & Newcastle Anti-Social Behaviour Volunteer Service
We are looking for volunteers to provide a befriending and supporting role for the victims of anti-social behaviour. You may have been a victim yourself and have the time and flexibility to help others who have faced similar situations. Or you simply want to help others in your community. If so, our Anti-Social Behaviour Volunteer Service could be for you.
Set up to offer vulnerable victims the additional support they might need, this joint service across both Gateshead and Newcastle, involves you completing an online training course, together with the option to complete further Community Safety related courses which maybe useful to you, such as Hate Crime, Mate Crime and Preventing Violent Extremism.
You will provide telephone support to the victim on a regular basis and will be provided with a mobile phone to do this. You will also completean evaluation form at the end of your involvement with each victim.
We need you if you are:
- a good listener • impartial and non-judgemental
- friendly and patient • flexible and reliable
How to get involved
Your first step is to email asb@newcastle.gov.uk and you will be sent an Expression of Interest form. On the form you need to highlight why you think youare suitable for the role and provide contact information for two references.
