Gateshead Children Centres, Early Help Service Volunteers

Help needed.

The volunteer role will be based in locations across Gateshead which will be agreed with individual volunteers.  Where the volunteers lives would be considered as well as if they have access to transport.

The role can be adapted to suit the individual volunteers knowledge, skills and experience.  Their interests and ambitions for the future will also be considered.

Gateshead Children's Centres provides a place for families with children under the age of 5 years to socialise with other families.  The Centres deliver services which support children's development and also offer advice and support to parents/carers.

Children Centre volunteers will support Activity Workers, Parents Outreach workers, and partners to deliver one of more of the following activities and services:

Activity workers:

  • Toy Library
  • Play time

This volunteer role will include setting up and clearing away the activities and supporting children & families.  Individual roles would need to be agreed at meeting with the volunteer.

It would be helpful if the volunteer had worked with children and families prior however isn't essential.  There are no other specific requirements.

A DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) Check will be required for this role. This will be supported through the project.
