Throughout the Family Hubs there will be differing types of activities and tasks needed around admin volunteering. Each individual volunteer can talk these through in detail with the location where they will be volunteering.
The tasks will also depend upon what you are wanting to gain from this volunteer placement in terms of experience that you would like gather.
The general type of tasks will cover:
- reception desk type duties
- welcoming visitors and members of the public
- registering people's name and providing them with a name badge if needed
- answering telephones with support and signage
- making telephone calls and taking bookings of activities
- photocopying
- preparing items to go out in the post
- booking meeting rooms
- opening the mornings posted items
- using the computer to create documents using the basic Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook
- Sending emails and replying to queries
- updating information on the websites and social media
- any other task that may become clear as an admin role within any of the hubs
Volunteers will always be supported and will receive training in all of the tasks that they could be asked to deliver.
If there is a particular area of expertise you would like to develop that could be part of your volunteer role, please raise this with the Volunteer Coordinator and we will be more than happy to help to provide the best volunteering experience possible.
There will be some admin tasks that will be specifically around Family Hubs including things such as the registering of parents at an activity session. Family Hub admin volunteering not only enables volunteers to gain experience in general admin tasks but also the unique opportunity to be involved in our exciting new Family Hubs as they develop across Gateshead.
Admin tasks could also include things such as:
- Event management and experience
- training provision and delivery
- social media updates around projects and initiatives
- website updates
The additional tasks and areas above have their own in-depth work force however, the admin tasks associated with these can be incorporated within this volunteer role.
All volunteer roles will be reviewed with the volunteer and their relevant coordinator. If you would like to look into exploring other areas of volunteering within our Family Hubs at any point please let us know.
Training
As a Gateshead Council managed volunteer role there will be training made available around confidentiality and GDPR if deemed relevant by the coordinator.
Any training that is required for this volunteer role will be provided and need to be complete prior to starting any volunteer role.
