English Learning Support, Newcastle - Volunteer - The Salvation Army

We are looking for volunteers to support a small group of adults (males) who are learning English by hosting a weekly ‘Conversation Club’ to help participants to;

-build confidence and skills using English in day-to-day situations

-feel championed and empowered

-have a safe space to express themselves

Volunteers host and plan weekly small group sessions over 6 weeks, leading conversation for English learners and providing participants with an informal language learning space.

Conversation groups are not formal English classes, volunteers do not need to be professional ESOL teachers, however, need to be confident English speakers to lead sessions. We value volunteers who can bring life experience as well as learnt experiences into their volunteering roles, and actively encourage applications from all people, whatever their background and including those who speak English as another language. Please note this is volunteer role and unpaid.
