The volunteer role will be based in locations across Gateshead which will be agreed with individual volunteers. Where the volunteers lives would be considered as well as if they have access to transport.
The role can be adapted to suit the individual volunteers knowledge, skills and experience. Their interests and ambitions for the future will also be considered.
Gateshead Children's Centres provides a place for families with children under the age of 5 years to socialise with other families. The Centres deliver services which support children's development and also offer advice and support to parents/carers.
Children Centre volunteers will support Activity Workers, Parents Outreach workers, and partners to deliver one of more of the following activities and services:
Activity workers:
- Toy Library
- Play time
- Trike time
- Toy time
- Holiday activities & events
- Soft play & Bouncy castle
- Childminders groups
- Foster carers groups
Parent Outreach workers:
- baby time
- toddler time
- time together
- stay & play
- baby massage
- caring for children
Partners with support:
- Let's start learning
- well children clinics
- weaning sessions
- Bosom buddies
- private providers
- pre-school sensory group
- parent & toddler group
- Cedars Academy sensory group
- care leavers & children
- Events: International Day of the Midwife/Maternity Voices Partnership
This volunteer role will include setting up and clearing away the activities and supporting children & families. Individual roles would need to be agreed at meeting with the volunteer.
