Volunteers at our charity, Foundations Furniture, help in our showrooms, warehouses and as driver's mates when delivering and collecting furniture from local residents.

Foundations makes around 700 collections each year from residents donating their pre-loved furniture. Each item is then brought back to our warehouses/showroom for any repairs to be carried out before being put on display for local households to purchase. ,

We are seeking a volunteer to join our small team to help in our showrooms, warehouses and collection/delivery service so that we can continue to make a difference in our community. The main tasks include the following:-,

  • helping to unload and load the van, -
  • moving furniture and household items to display areas, -
  • moving any sold items to the dispatch area ready for delivery,
  • basic repair/restoration of furniture that may be damaged during transit,
  • assist the driver to collect and deliver furniture, -
  • help to keep the showroom and warehouses attractive through general housekeeping duties.

The volunteer roles are perfect for anyone seeking:-, -experience of working within a warehouse, retail or delivery setting or general work based experience, -references if job seeking, -new friendships by meeting new people, -a sense of fulfilment by contributing to the local community and helping older people, Practical Considerations, In-house manual handling training and some personal protective equipment is provided. ,

Our premises are in the heart of the Teams residential area of Gateshead. There are good transport links from Gateshead Town Centre or if driving, there is free car parking on-site.,
