This is a volunteer role led by Gateshead & Newcastle Local Authorities and aims to provide telephone support to vulnerable people who have experienced incidents of ASB (Anti-Social Behaviour) that are non-criminal.

Volunteers will be provided with a mobile telephone to use during the delivery of the project as well as credit to use to make calls.

Volunteers will be providing an informal befriending role and direct support through sign posting to victims of ASB.  Volunteers may have experienced an incident themselves and have the time and flexibility to help others who have faced similar situations, or it could be that volunteers just want to help in the community.

The project has been established to offer victims the additional support and signposting that they may need. Volunteers will be required to undertake an online training course together with an initial online welcome meeting with the main project officer who will be the main contact throughout volunteers involvement.

Once fully trained volunteers will be able to take on as many or as few cases that are possible. You will be provided with some basic information around each case and asked whether they would like to take up a case or not.

Volunteers will be able to contact the individuals over the telephone, at agreed dates and times that are suitable for them. This is a flexible role and can be picked up and delivered as and when possible.

At the close of each case volunteers will be asked to complete a small evaluation process before they can take on another case.

Volunteers will be provided with a relevant Housing Company contact within the case information who can provide support and more detailed information throughout the project.

This is a great opportunity to be involved in a remote volunteer role which can provide valuable experience of case management and supporting vulnerable people.
