What is mindfulness and how can mindfulness help me?
Mindfulness to help maintain mental health after recovery. Using mindfulness to help prevent recurrence of depression and help with anxiety symptoms. Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. By being fully present in this way - not forcing things or hiding from them, but actually being with them, we create space to respond in new ways to situations and make wise choices. We may not always have full control over our lives, but with mindfulness we can work with our minds and bodies, learning how to live with more appreciation and less anxiety. We have two sessions of mindfulness on Mondays, the 1:30 PM one is for beginners or people who just want to meditate and discuss how mindfulness is working for them. The second session starts at 3 PM and is based around practical mindfulness workbooks, so if you're a beginner or just want to meditate and discuss mindfulness go to the 1:30 PM session. Our tutor, Heather, has practised mindfulness most of her life and taught it as a CPN in Gateshead, she has a passion for mindfulness that enthuses you! A great tutor and a very caring person.
