Our next exhibition in the ‘Inside Out Gallery’ (windows) at the Heritage Centre is by local illustrator and designer Stephen Buckley.
Stephen Buckley is an Illustrator based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Originally from Cork, Ireland, Stephen studied Painting and Photography in the Crawford College of Art and Design in Cork City where he went on to qualify as an Art and Design Teacher in 2007.
Soon after Stephen left to travel and work abroad in Australia and New Zealand where he developed a love of Digital Art and Graphic Design. After a brief stint back home in Ireland, Stephen moved to Newcastle Upon Tyne where he has taken inspiration from both the urban landscapes of the city and the surrounding countryside of Northumberland and Tyneside.
Stephen’s work is a mix of Photography and Digital Illustration. His work often explores the interplay of both artificial and natural light between Architecture and its surroundings. Reflections and the changing light of the moon feature prominently in his work as well as experimentation with halftone patterns and colour which take inspiration from artists from both the Impressionist and Pop Art movements.
Stephen’s exhibition is visible from our Courtyard to the rear of the Heritage Centre.
All the artworks in the exhibition, along with unframed prints are available to purchase. Please speak to a member of staff.
