Mike Pinkney Exhibition - Inside Out Gallery

Our spring exhibition at the Heritage Centre’s Inside Out Gallery is with local printmaker and lecturer Mike Pinkney.

Mike grew up in Consett and went on to study at Art School in London. He worked as a Graphic Designer at studios in London’s Soho and Chelsea for many years before returning to the North East to work as a designer and then as a lecturer in the School of Design at Northumbria University. He has been developing his printmaking alongside lecturing and designing for several years now, enjoying the mix of the three disciplines.

Mike’s printmaking focusses on screenprinting, using a bold colour palette and simplified compositions to bring a fresh perspective to familiar and often overlooked scenes. It is an exciting and dynamic way of working which always produces unexpected results in the way colours and shapes combine.
