St Mary's Heritage Centre

St Mary's Heritage Centre is a heritage venue on Gateshead Quays. It houses a permanent exhibition depicting the heritage of Gateshead and history of St Mary's. It offers research facilities for local and family history, with regular surgeries to support visitors undertaking their own researches and sessions for school groups and community groups interested in local history. There is a regular programme of local history talks and tours, a full programme of temporary exhibitions and regular user groups welcome new members. These include The Tyneside Fiddle Alliance on the First and third Thursday evenings in the month, St Mary's proggy matters every Thursday and Sunday afternoon, Frets on the Tyne Guitar group every Thursday morning, Tots and Tinys Ryhme Time every Friday morning, a regular monthly reading group and a drop in session for Northumbrian Smallpipers every four weeks.
