NVQ Level 1 Volunteering

Get recognised for your volunteering work, or learn about how volunteering could benefit you, with this Level 1 NVQ qualification.

Volunteering is also, however, an ideal way to gain a valuable track record and experience in new areas of work, significantly improving employment prospects.

The Level 1 Volunteering NVQ is the perfect opportunity for anyone who currently volunteers to gain an accredited qualification as evidence of their activities and achievements through volunteering. It is also suitable for anyone interested in exploring volunteering and learning how it will help to progress them towards employment, and of course will provide a L1 accredited qualification to help with job search.

Groups of up to 8 people per programme will be led by a community trainer through a series of interactive workshops involving group and individual activities and guest speakers who will share their own experiences of volunteering. Participants will learn about the commitment required and benefits of volunteering, understand the function of different volunteering organisations and how they use volunteers as well as the commitment required to be a volunteer. Participants will also learn how to improve and develop the skills needed to perform the role of a volunteer in a chosen organisation and know where to find out about becoming a volunteer and the ways to apply for a volunteering post

As well as gaining a recognised qualification, participants will be encouraged to network with their peers during the course and warm referrals will be made to Future You project partner Connected Voice to support with identifying volunteering opportunities.

Time commitment and format

There will be a timetable of groups running on a range of different days, to enable participants to choose a group which fits around their lives, whether their preference be online, face to face or specific days. If they miss a unit, they will be able to join another group to complete the course, subject to scheduling.
