Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles

The qualification provides an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in developing the skills and experience needed to look for a job in youth work.          

The Youth Work industry is currently under-staffed, so this Level 2 Award provides an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in developing the skills and experience needed to enable them to look for a job in a youth work setting.  

Activity 

The Level 2 Award in Youth Work Practice includes learning associated with the theory of Youth Work, safeguarding, young people’s development and communication. Through the programme participants will enhance their skills and experience, bringing them closer to employment with guaranteed interviews available upon completion, where a vacancy is available.   

Course assessment is based on written assignments and learners will develop a portfolio of knowledge and skill. The course is recognised by the National Youth Agency and qualifies learners as an assistant youth support worker. The qualification embraces the National Occupational Standards for Youth Work and develops good practice at Level 2. 

Time commitment and format 

  • 5 sessions over a 3-month period, a mix of online and face to face 

  • Completion of 4 assignments, with 3 weeks to complete each 

  • Submission of final portfolio by 16th May
