Level 1 Health and Social Care Training

With a qualification in Health and Social Care you're already closer to your future job, and will have a better understanding of care work too.

This Level 1 accredited training is ideal for anyone who is interested in developing skills in care work to enable them to move into employment in a care setting. No baseline academic qualifications are required to join the course.

Participants will gain the right skills and learn the ethos needed for care work. This activity could be a follow-on to Carer Work Experience (participants can ‘top up’ with an additional 7 hours of training to access the qualification), but this is not essential as the course itself involves a work placement in day services, rehab, or dementia services.

Participants will be given the opportunity to continue on from the L1 qualification within the project. Moving into a higher level will allow participants to specialise more, and this will increase their employability whilst building further skills, confidence and experience.

Once the training is complete participants will be guaranteed interviews for any vacancies available within Age UK Gateshead’s networks for which they are qualified.

Time commitment and format

7 hours, virtual or face-to-face classroom-based NVQ training, and a 21-hour work placement.

Modest travel expenses will be paid to support with access to work experience placements
