Pickle Palace

The Pickle Palace rescue food and feed people, we rescue around 1 and a half tonnes of food each week which we re-distribute in the community.

We are a CIC based in the west of Gateshead working with lots of organisations locally, educating and re-distributing food in the community. The Pickle Palace are established in Greenside Cricket Club and Chopwell Primary School and are open 4 days a week but between different locations.

We invite anyone who needs help with their food bills or who wants to help save waste from landfill to come to our community markets held weekly at Strathmore Rd Methodist Church on Mondays, 1030-1130am, and Greenside Cricket Club each Thursday 1030-1130am. Here you can get a shopper sized bag of food for a £3 donation but everyone is welcome, we have a voucher system should you be unable to contribute the £3. Strathmore Rd run a hub on a Monday, alongside our market, with a Cafe from 9am and Citizen's Advice available each week, on appointment. As well as providing nutritional food to those in need The Pickle Palace also work with 2 local schools to help educate children and young people about cooking nutritional meals. We also run adult cookery classes, and offer a weekly subscription delivery service where people receive a food bag for a regular, weekly donation.
