Does your organisation need help from a volunteer?

We’re asking organisations that work across Gateshead to share their volunteering opportunities on the website.

We know that many local organisations are under-resourced and facing pressure to meet increased demand for their services. We also know that the last year has seen a tremendous uptake of volunteering roles and that many people who have never volunteered before have offered to help out in their communities.

We want to carry this momentum through as lockdown restrictions are eased. Now is the perfect time to add your ‘Help Required’ to the community website.

We’ll be contacting organisations that work in Gateshead over the coming weeks to find out if they have any volunteering needs and to guide them in how to add and manage their listings on the website. There’s no need to wait for us to get in touch though. If your organisation needs support then you can get started right away.

How to add a listing

Volunteering opportunities are listed under ‘Ways to Help’ on Feedback from the community told us that whilst some people seek more traditional long-term volunteering roles, there are many people who would also like to help out on a less formal basis. This might be offering a couple of hours of time for a one off task in a charity or helping out at a community event, for example.

Listing opportunities on is completely free and you just need to sign up using an email address to get started.

There are two ways you can add a ‘Request for Help’. Start by logging into your account.

  1. Click ‘Add content’ and select ‘Request for Help’ – complete the form and your request will be listed under ‘Ways to Help’
  2. When you add an event or activity under Things to Do, you can also ‘Request Help’ for this listing. To do this click ‘Add Content’ and select ‘Things to Do’. When you complete the form you will notice there is a box where you can ‘Request Help’. Again this request will be listed under the ‘Ways to Help’ section of

Please note, if you have never posted content on before, then your first post will be moderated before appearing on the website.
