Gateshead Council have announced a £150,000 fund to harnessing the power of Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations.
We anticipate that most grant sizes will fall between £500 - £2,500 but we are willing to consider applications for larger grants (up to £10,000).
Fund Aims
Our aim is to make Gateshead a place where everybody thrives, putting people and families at the heart of everything that we do. Working with partners across the system, we aim to:
- give every child the best start in life
- enable all children, young people and adults to maximise their capabilities and have control over their lives
- create fair employment and good work for all
- ensure a healthy standard of living for all
- create and develop healthy and sustainable places and communities
- strengthen the role and impact of ill health prevention
The type of work we want to fund
This funding programme will support community based non-clinical services. Non-clinical activities are those which do not provide any type of medical diagnoses, testing or treatment such as those provided by NHS services. This fund is not designed to support clinical interventions, but community.
Grants will be awarded to:
- services and activities that support children, young people and families in community-based settings to improve their wellbeing and mental health, such as developing self-confidence and mentoring programmes
- services and activities that empower people to build their resilience and ability to find their own solutions and support strategies, enabling them to lead independent and happy lives
- organisations that are already operating in Gateshead
Gateshead Council will consider all applications. Successful applications will be notified of the outcome and if you have not heard by 1 November 2024, please assume your application has been unsuccessful. The decision is final and there is no right to appeal.
Examples of activities include but are not restricted to:
- facilitated support groups for people with shared experiences that impact wellbeing
- opportunities for children with special educational needs and disability (SEND) to access local services
- mentoring for young persons
- green social prescribing activities
- support and activities for young carers
- supported music or crafting activities focussing on wellbeing outcomes
- support groups or services for parents experiencing challenging circumstances
- opportunities for children, young people and families to be physically active
- relationship and sex education opportunities for young people
