Our Gateshead

Gateshead Local History Society

About us:

We are a group of Gateshead residents who enjoy meeting up to discuss local history.

Gateshead Local History Society was formed in September 1964 by Gateshead Libraries and the membership has continued to grow year on year.

We meet at Gateshead Library, Prince Consort Road on the first Thursday of each month from September to April (excluding January) at 7.15pm.

The annual subscription is £5.00, plus £1 per meeting.

Our Local History nights are made up of various activities such as:-

  • Talks by visiting speakers
  • Research activities
  • Occasional visits to historical places of interest
