We are volunteers who organise the National Garden Scheme in the North East - owners of superb gardens open them to the public - usually one day every year - and sometimes by arrangement for groups of people. There is a small entry charge and often tea/cake and plants to buy. All proceeds go the NGS charity which donates around £3m nationally every year to caring and nursing charities. NGS is the biggest annual contributor to Macmillan, Marie Curie and Hospice UK and donations to smaller charities are also made. The Scheme is run overwhelmingly by volunteers meaning that over 85% of all proceeds go to beneficiaries.
