Our Gateshead

Dunston Drop-In CIO

About us:

We are a Youth Centre run by a board of trustees and volunteers. We commission child friendly sessions in relations to relationships, domestic violence, drugs and alcohol etc. We try to instill positive behaviors like healthy choices, through games, sports, healthy eating sessions and other appropriate sessions when necessary. We provide creative, sporting and social bonding experiences that develop self-esteem and community confidence.

 Our groups currently include:

A group for 10-13 year olds who have 1 session per week on a Monday 5pm-7pm. During this group our young people have time to socialize and we also currently run a literacy program which helps to enhance their writing skills through journalism.

A group for 13-19 year olds which runs which runs on Wednesday's and Fridays 6.30pm - 8.30pm. During this group they participate in pool games, sports, cooking and music

A group for NEET (Not in Education, Employment, and Training) young people age 19-24 group.

We also run a outdoor/gardening club on a Thursday, activities include planting bulbs and flowers, grass cutting, building flower boxes and planters and general maintenance of the grounds.
